The aim of the blog:
Guiding your children through the British state education system is never
easy. Indeed, with the number of exams seemingly expanding each year (KS1, 11+,
KS2, GCSE and A-Levels)- it seems a exam is lurking around every corner. This
can place stress not only on the children themselves, but also the parents. The
aim of this blog is simple- the hope that I can help others by jotting down
some of my own personal experiences as my children move from year 6 onwards.
The catalyst for the blog:
I have two children who are currently in year 6 and 7. As a result I have
experienced back-to-back Kent Test (11+) exams over the past two years. Casting
an eye through the various blogs and discussion forums highlights that there
isn’t a huge amount of information on the Kent Test. As a result the default
reflex for a lot of parents is to hire expensive tutors. I hope that I can
bring a little light to the subject of the Kent Test and show that tutors, with
a little planning and hard work, are not always
necessary.
Going forward, this blog will not just be limited to the
Kent Test- but will provide a commentary on the thoughts, problems and anxieties
that I experience whilst helping guide my own children through their school
careers.
